Woodstock, IL – Gary Rabine, Republican candidate for Illinois Governor, is issuing the following statement on Cook County Judge Raymond Mitchell’s decision today to put a hold on the Dec. 31st deadline to lay off Chicago City employees who have not been vaccinated.
“This is a win for Chicago Police officers and their union leader, John Catanzara, who simply want to be able to make healthcare decisions for themselves. It is my hope the court will take the next step and rule these vaccine mandates unconstitutional but at least the brave men and women who serve in the Chicago Police Department will not have to worry about losing their jobs as they fight for their right of conscience.
The continued overreach of government to control our daily lives should concern each and every one of us. This is not about vaccines. This is about the right of free citizens to make healthcare decisions for themselves. This is about protecting and preserving our freedom and our liberties. Just last week, lawmakers sent the Governor legislation to take away the Right of Conscience for working people. I ask this Governor to stand with working men and women and veto this legislation. JB Pritzker and our legislators swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. It is time he and our leaders in Springfield did their job.”
