Woodstock, IL – Gary Rabine, Republican candidate for Illinois Governor, is issuing the following statement today regarding Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s admission that his COVID-19 vaccine mandates are illegal and violate the state’s Right of Conscience Act:
“J.B. Pritzker has long mocked and derided anyone opposing his illegal COVID-19 vaccine mandate, claiming that as governor he has unilateral authority to make health care decisions for any Illinoisan, so long as he says this is an ‘emergency.’ It should come as no surprise to learn that Pritzker is being insincere.
The Governor has always known that Illinois’ Right of Conscience Act makes his mandates illegal. That’s why he is now trying to change the law— to make his illegal actions magically legal and to put a stop to the lawsuits his administration is facing.
I hope Illinois judges hearing lawsuits against Pritzker citing Illinois’ Right of Conscience Act heed the Governor’s inadvertent candor here. He doesn’t believe his own legal arguments. This is Stalin-esque behavior from a tyrant. These mandates should be struck down in court immediately.”
Senate Bill 1169 states it “is not a violation of this Act for any person or public official, or for any public or private association, agency, corporation, entity, institution, or employer, to take any measures or impose any requirements, including, but not limited to, any measures or requirements that involve provision of services by a physician or health care personnel, intended to prevent contraction or transmission of COVID-19 or any pathogens that result in COVID-19 or any of its subsequent iterations.”
